[Dave just rolls his eyes behind his shades at the hair ruffle.]

No kiddin'. You looked a helluva lot better last time I saw you, too. Siddown so I can patch you up before you bleed to death on me.

[He gets out some nectar and mortal medical supplies. The nectar will speed up the healing process, but he wants to clean the wounds first.]

Amazing what hoofing it with a horde of monsters on your tail does for your complexion, am I right? Calm your tits, dude, I'm not about to expire right in front of you.

[But he sits down anyway, and despite his attempts to keep controlled, it ends up being more of a slide to the ground than anything else.]

Somehow, I'm not surprised you ran all the way here by yourself.

[He makes no comment on Dirk dying right in front of him. The last thing Dave wants is his own brother dead on his watch. He cleans Dirk's wounds with alcohol and hands him the nectar.]

Drink that. It's nectar. Since you're a demigod, too, you won't burn the hell up the moment you taste it.

[Dirk doesn't even hiss at the sting of the alcohol, but he does bite the inside of his lip until it's done. He takes the nectar when Dave holds it out.

He drinks it down quickly, clearly expecting an awful taste to it. Instead, it's the flavor of orange soda, that makes him wish he'd lingered over it.

Next he turns to Dave, deadpan.]

This is the part where I say "Oh gods, it burns."

[It doesn't, and he's looking better already.]

[Dave's mouth twitches almost into a smile of amusement as he sees Dirk swallowing it as fast as possible.]

Please. I saw you being claimed by Athena, and you were able to get into Camp. Plus I'm pretty sure I didn't give you enough to burn you anyway. About 99.9% sure.

[He watches for a few seconds to make sure.]

Anyway, it speeds up the healing process for us, so you'll be fine in a short while.

[Dirk just smirks when Dave watches anyway.]

There's a reason I set out for New York from fucking Texas, bro, and it's not just because I missed seeing your kawaii little face.

[For the moment, he stays sitting, giving the nectar time to do it's work.]

This sure as hell would have come in handy earlier.

[Dave gives the wounds a more critical look and decides that he won't need to dress any up. As such, he puts away his supplies and sits down next to Dirk.]

Well, if I'd known you were one of Athena's kids, I would've sent you some ambrosia. Works like nectar, but it's easier to cart around and not OD on it, since I'd just section off the right amount.

[He shrugs as Dave settles in next to him.]

If I'd know I was one of Athena's kids I'd have come here a hell of a lot sooner. At least we can get all Nancy Drew in this shit and figure out that the monsters were so bad because there were two of us.

Fuck if I know. We didn't exactly have time to sit down and talk it out before I took off, on account of monsters. I think she's embarrassed at the implication that she was experimenting when she was younger.
