[Basically, if you've ever wanted to throw your character into the world of Heroes of Olympus, now you can! Make them a Greek demigod! Make them Roman! Make them a Satyr if you want. [Dirk's been in the forge for a while, but it's the first time he's been noticed and called out for it. He hadn't even been sure if he was allowed in, when he'd first seen it, but he'd figured that if he wasn't he would get kicked out. He hadn't been, so he'd stayed and started watching Leo work.

Dirk doesn't hesitate to come over when he gets called, but he does raise an eyebrow at being addressed that way.]

It's Dirk. And I'm interested in making things, which necessarily dictates an interest in working with metal.

Sorry, I kind of suck with remembering names. But I think I'll be able to remember yours now.

[And just in case he doesn't know, he introduces himself and follows it with an offered fist bump]

Anyway. Leo Valdez, counselor for the Hephaestus cabin. And you're welcome to come work in the forge whenever you want, dude.

I can get a nametag, if you're going to have that much trouble. [He says it dryly, and makes no move to actually go and find one.]

Mind explaining me some basics? It may come as a surprise, but these things aren't exactly found on every street corner.

You don't need to grab a name tag, Dirk.

Yeah, sure. [Insert explanation on how to use a forge here, complete with demonstrating the steps. It takes a bit of time, and Leo keeps glancing up to make sure Dirk hasn't lost interest.]

[He doesn't lose interest. If anything, he seems to gain interest, and several times it looks like he's about to ask for the tools from Leo to do a step himself, though he doesn't say anything, and keeps his hands in his pockets.

He doesn't just pull away once the explanation is complete, either.]

So what's the most badass thing you've made in here?

[Leo brings his hand to his chin, to think. Most of what he's made at the forge weren't badass on their own, but...]

Come with me and I'll show you. [He motions towards the woods.] Only parts of it were made here, but it's way to large to be assembled anywhere but the bunker.

[Dirk follows along behind.]

Bunker?

[It's not something campers thought to mention to a new child of Athena, obviously.]

[He nods and heads into the woods.]

Bunker 9. I discovered it back in December. But it's been there for a couple centuries.

[He smirks.]

So you're inviting me to your secret hideout. I feel so special.

[He grins as they walk deeper into the woods.]

You should. I can count the number of campers on one hand that have been in there. Well, aside from the other Hephaestus kids. Couldn't keep it all to myself.

[Soon they will come to what looks like a dead end - a big stone cliff as tall as an aircraft hangar.]

[When they get to the clearing, Dirk doesn't ask why they've cme to this particular place. Instead, he starts looking at the area around them, searching for something. Whether it's an ambush or the Bunker, his expression doesn't give it away.]

[Leo steps up to the stone face and places his hand on the wall. A second later his hand is in flames and the door to the bunker begins to open. He extinguishes the fire before turning back to Dirk and motioning him forward.]

Welcome to Bunker 9.

[Dirk takes a few steps inside, and even behind the shades, it's obvious that he's taking in as much of it as possible. He definitely looks like he wants to get closer to some of the parts further away from him, especially the blueprints.]

Nice place you got here.

Yeah. It's pretty sweet, right?

[He starts leading Dirk around the bunker, pointing out things and giving him a chance to look at things before moving on.]

No wonder you keep this place to yourself.

[If Leo doesn't warn him off, Dirk will poke into everything.]

[Leo won't warn him off unless it's something dangerous.]

Not many people outside of Hephaestus cabin are even interested in this stuff. At least not in the making of phase.

[He points to a set of blueprints then turns to point to the ship in progress.]

This is what we're working on right now.

This being what?

[He goes to the blueprints first. It's easier to know what you're looking at when you've seen what it will become.]

The Argo II. Gonna be the most badass Greek trireme ever.

Sure. And how exactly is it useful if you're building it here?

[He still hasn't gotten to the "it flies" part of the blueprints.]

It'll be plenty useful. The ship will be able to fly when we're done with it.

[Leo points to a few places on the blueprints that show the flight mechanisms.]

[Dirk doesn't say anything else for several moments as he stares at the blueprints, examining the places that Leo's pointed out, until he finally nods his understanding.]

Handy that you won't need a full team of oarsmen, either.

Yeah, that's a big help. Can't really risk that many lives for the quest. Not enough demigods here for one.

[He didn't mention that for two, there was a good chance that they might not succeed or even come back with everyone alive.]
